One of the biggest attractions to the South Bend area is the Michiana Raceway Park. From beginners to veterans, racers will find everything they need. Raceway Park offers the best in Kart racing, including classes, leagues, and rental equipment. The leagues and classes both vary from the introduction for the beginners to the advanced for the seasoned racer. There are events every weekend throughout the racing season. Come participate or just to watch.
Racing
The track offers many different layouts. There is a national track, a long course, a short course and an endurance track. The courses will change depending on the event scheduled. The park offers many features:
- Proshop: The proshop has everything you need for your races. The shop offers engines, car parts and all sorts of clothing.
- Racing School: The track has a beginner class that starts with a three-hour class on karting instructions, safety and practice time. The classes advance up to Advanced Karting, in which you get to drive the racing karts. You can also learn how to perform maintenance on your own kart. The park is a full training facility offering a range of classes: from a half day class or up to 5 days of training.
- Arrive and Drive: Don’t have your own kart – rent one. The Raceway Park offers an arrive and drive program for all ages and all experience levels. For example, you can rent a Kid Kart for around $75.00 per hour. This would include the kart, one set of tires, and racing fuel. For a more advanced ride, you can rent the Rotax Jr or Sr. for up to $275 per hour. The prices increase as there is a greater wear and tear and more equipment necessary.
- Adult Leagues: The Rock Kart Racing League is a weekly league. Rock Karts are 9-horsepoewr karts that are designed for racing. There are leagues in the spring, summer and fall.
- Children Training: Your children can start racing as early as 5 years old with the baby karts that have a short wheelbase and a 50cc engine. On specified Saturdays, you can bring your own cart for your children to practice. If you don’t have your own kart, for a nominal fee, you can get a kart with safety equipment and instructional lesson.
- Corporate Parties: Looking for a fun work outing or a team building tool, this may be the answer. The Racepark has catered hundreds of company parties and will modify the event to fit your needs.
